The Christian Legal
Intervention Academy (CLIA)
invites Christian lawyers and
upper year law students to
attend an intensive, one-day
Mini-Academy training event to
take place September 30 in
Calgary, Alberta in conjunction
with the CLF National Conference
(September 29th to October 1st).
CLIA will provide detailed
substantive and tactical
training to practicing lawyers
and upper year law students who
seek to make a difference in
Canadian society by advocating
on behalf of truth and life. The
day will help participants to
proactively
prepare for, and provide quality
legal representation in
important constitutional and
human rights cases relating to
issues of religious freedom.
Who may
apply?
1.
CLIA Alumni: attendance at the
event (including scheduled
meals)
will be complimentary to CLIA
Alumni;
2.
Christian
Legal Fellowship (CLF) National
Conference
attendees are also welcome to
attend this training
without additional charge;
3.
First-time applicants - wishing
to apply for full funding in
exchange for a 100 hour pro-bono
commitment;
4.
First-time applicants
- by
applying and paying the
necessary fee below.
In every case, you
must apply and be accepted to
receive this training. All
applicants must complete the
CLIA Application Form
(whether or not they require
financial assistance).
Sections I, II & VIII must be
completed by all applicants.
Applicants seeking financial
assistance for accommodations
and travel must also complete a Pro
Bono Accounting Form.
First-time applicants wishing to
apply for full funding in
exchange for a pro-bono
commitment must complete the
entire application and
all necessary attachments.
Space is limited and
applications will be processed
in the order and priority
received, therefore, we
encourage you to take steps to
apply as quickly as possible!
Applications
should be received no later than
August 18, 2006. Applications
received after this date will be
considered as space permits.
Please note that admittance into
the Academy
and any subsequent
relationship
with the Christian Legal
Intervention Academy (CLIA)
can be denied or
terminated for any reason, or no
reason, whatsoever at
the sole discretion and
determination of CLIA.
The
Registration Costs (Chart)
outlines further subsidization
options for both new CLIA
registrants (not attending the
CLF National Conference) and
CLIA Alumni. Attendees who are
not CLIA Alumni or CLF National
Conference attendees may choose
to either (1) apply and pay for
the one-day training without an
accompanying Pro Bono
Commitment, or (2) apply for
funding (registration,
accommodation and travel -
subject to availability) with an
accompanying
Pro Bono commitment.
As
the chart explains, while
attendance is not conditional on
Pro Bono completion,
priority will be given to CLIA
Alumni who have fulfilled all or
a portion of their
CLIA Pro Bono accounting
commitment. In addition,
CLIA Alumni who have completed
all or a portion of their Pro
Bono commitment will be
eligible for accommodation
and/or travel sponsorships.

the
CLIA Application Form, and
register below.
Hotel costs are not
included in the
registration fees (unless
application is made for
financial assistance - see above
application form). To

with the Christian Legal
Fellowship group code GJFCLF
and call prior to September 5,
2006 in order to qualify for the
group rate of
$109.00
net single/double occupancy
(plus applicable taxes).
Each extra person sharing a room
will be charged an additional
$15.00 per night. There will be
no charge for children up to and
including the age of 18 years
who share with their parents.
Maximum occupancy is 3 adults
per room. A limited number of
rooms are available prior to and
following the conference at the
same economical price.
The training academy will
feature some of the
nation's top legal experts
who will instruct in Canadian
constitutional matters in the
area of pro-life, family
advocacy and various
Charter and Human
Rights issues. Not only will
attendees learn from the best
but they will leave knowing a
network of lawyers who will be
glad to assist them in the
future.
