Biographies:
Darla
Walker -
Dynamic, energetic and inspiring, Darla Walker
is a sought after speaker and has addressed thousands of people
across North America and around the world.
Her practical insights have not only made her a popular
motivational speaker, but a frequent television guest as well.
As a
part of International Women’s Week, she lectured at the University
of Ottawa and Carleton University. Tackling the topics, “Was Jesus
a Feminist?” and “Women and Self-Esteem: Current Solutions,” Darla
challenged faculty and students alike to evaluate
the
claims of Christ.
Darla regularly appears
on well-known television programs such as
100 Huntley Street
and hosted and produced her own television show in Vancouver.
Entitled Lifestyles, her TV series appeared on a secular
network and encouraged women to consider the spiritual dimensions of
their lives.
On
staff with a Christian non-profit organization since 1973, Darla
currently holds a position with Women in Leadership and works with
business and professional women leaders across Canada. She also
writes internet articles and is working on a book. Darla was born in
Toronto and earned her B.A. in English at the University of Toronto,
and was pursuing a career as a professional dancer. She and her
husband David have recently relocated from Vancouver to Toronto with
their daughter Julia. Their son Paul and his wife Rebekah live in
Abbotsford.
Darla
is a special guest speaker with Women of Faith this year and will
appear at their Buffalo and Vancouver conferences. She will
be assuming the role of Executive Director for Stonecroft Ministries
in Canada on April 1st.
I am Woman; I
am Invincible; I am Tired! The Real Guilt/False Guilt Struggle
Guilt seems to plague us as women, no matter what our situation.
Darla will share some of the insights that gifted business and
professional women have passed on to her: understanding true and
false guilt; understanding how our personality plays into that;
and some suggested ideas for being able to do all we are meant
to do in freedom in Christ. Come to be surprised at the top 3
needs of business and professional women!
Valerie

1987, and an LL.B. in 1990. Since her call to the Bar of Ontario
in 1992, she has been practicing law in Oshawa. Her practice is

Collaborative Family Lawyer. In 2003 Valerie was appointed a
Deputy Judge of the Superior Court of Justice, Small Claims
Court.
Valerie has written articles and
presented papers on a number of legal issues, including
employment law, workplace harassment, family law and mediation.
Collaboration At Work & At Home

Hall and was called to the Ontario Bar in February 2002. Ms.
Holder is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and
the Ontario Bar Association.
Fruit of
the Spirit Panel - Faith
Faithe will share what God has taught her, both personally
and professionally, about faith as the substance of things
hoped for and the evidence of things not seen and how those
teachings aid in the recognition of the ways in which we
lack faith and the ways in which our faith can be increased.

was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1981 and practiced as a

law practice two years ago, she has been involved with advocacy
projects, executive outreach, facilitating Alpha groups,
speaking, mentoring etc. Karen is really excited about
participating in this upcoming event with other professional
Christian women.
Divine
Appointments in the Practice of Law ~ Called to the Bar & Called
to the Purpose of God ~
Back by popular demand, Karen will share
how she was initially disillusioned about whether or not a
Christian could make any difference on Bay Street. Bay Street
initially struck her as being only about making money, achieving
billable hours and entertaining clients. In her 20 years of
practice, God showed her how He could use her in many ways to
achieve His purposes in her work. She started to discover how
many of her daily appointments were in fact divine appointments,
with purposes bigger than just processing her files in the usual
expected manner. She will briefly discuss the ten most
significant ways that God used her law career for His purposes.
Fruit of the
Spirit Panel - Peace - In the Fruit of the
Spirit panel, she will briefly share what God has taught her
about finding the peace that passes understanding, even in the
midst of the storms.
Elizabeth
Davis -
Elizabeth completed her legal degree
from Oak Brook College of Law and Government Policy (Fresno,
California) and is on staff with CLF where she helps with
conference planning, graphic design, strategic planning,
tracking legal changes and producing both the Prayer Targets
e-Newsletter and the CLF Journal. She has lobbied at the United
Nations and has a great interest in constitutional law and
religious freedom advocacy. In her spare time she trains for
duathlons and pursues advanced piano skills.
Office
Organization & Motion Maximization ~
Thirteen years ago,
Elizabeth noticed the increased need for organization and
focused living in this high-paced age and developed an
"organization ministry." She has assisted families by staying in
their home for a week to declutter & organize as well as
speaking extensively on the subject both as a continuing
education college course and at church and community events. At
More Excellent!, Elizabeth will share practical
suggestions on streamlining on office, determining work centers,
and managing papers in order to maximize efficiency.

Pursuing the
Upward Call of God
The life of faith is ultimately
about the attainment of character, and we encounter many stages
in the process. All the while, God cares passionately about
us, and is working through our calling, circumstances,
challenges, choices & changes. What kind of leaders do we need
to be for God to trust us to influence our world for
Christ? Ruth will wrap up the day's discussions, and with the
help of the Holy Spirit, exhort us to pursue the "upward call of
God" that is upon our lives.
