Invitation from
CLF Student Board Member:
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
When I signed up for my first CLF Student Conference in
January 2005 at the University of Alberta, I had no idea
what I was stepping into. During that weekend, the Lord
opened my eyes about my need to have a renewed mind
about my studies. Without knowing it, I had been largely
accepting the secular humanist worldview of my legal
education, as I had in fact been doing all through my
schooling. I also forged meaningful friendships with
other Christian law students, and met and heard from
Christian lawyers who very much applied biblical
principles to the manner in which they managed every
aspect of their career, from work-life balance to
ministering to their clients and everything in
between. At subsequent conferences I have received
direction from the Lord about His purposes for my future
practice, along with powerful commissioning and
ministry. In short, these conferences have blessed me
beyond anything that I could ask or imagine. I look
forward to welcoming you to the 2007 CLF National
Student Conference at my own law school – UBC – trusting
that you too will be touched by the same God in the ways
that He needs to touch you, that you may walk with Him
ever more closely, and serve Him ever more effectively.

Invitation &
Overview - CLF Student Conference Director:
Dear Brothers
and Sisters,
I’d like to echo Geoffrey’s encouraging invitation
to you all on attending the 2007 CLF National Student
Conference, and I would also like to tell you more about
the inspiring program that is in store for you if you
decide to join us in Vancouver next February! In light
of what we learned from last year’s student conference
at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario,
our organization team in Vancouver decided that this
year’s conference theme would be
Justice:
A Light to the Nations. We
wanted to focus on how it is our calling to do biblical
justice in Canada and abroad, and for us to be informed
of this early on, so that we will be fully equipped to
serve God by the time we are ready to enter into the
practice of law. Thus, to reflect this year’s theme, we
have planned the following speaker sessions:
The Christian Legal Journey (panel
ranging from student, to associate to mentor);
Christian Leadership, Ethics & Morality in Practice;
Evangelism/Apologetics breakout sessions;
Law Missions Abroad;
Civil Liberties Litigation in Canada;
Work/Life Balance panels for men and women;
Mentorship sessions on both conference days to foster
discussion and mentorship between students & mentors;
Dr. John G. Stackhouse, Jr., Prof. of Theology &
Culture at Regent College as our banquet keynote
speaker.
Please imagine this inspiring weekend against the
backdrop of the beautiful mountains and lush greenery of
Vancouver, British Columbia. Included in the conference
program are many fun social activities designed to
explore and enjoy our thriving metropolis, including
possible excursions to Stanley Park, Granville Island,
and vibrant Downtown Vancouver. In conclusion, please
consider joining us in Vancouver next February for the
2007 CLF National Student Conference! It’ll be a
conference true to inspire you spiritually, mentally and
emotionally, and will hopefully allow you to closer
decipher what God’s called you to do as a lawyer.
