Reporting to General Counsel, this position will provide legal expertise to all World Vision Canada business units with particular emphasis on supporting WVC's International Programs division, by reviewing and drafting agreements related to the acquisition of grants and related funding.

In addition, Legal Counsel will also:

Advise on issues related to compliance under the Income Tax Act, anti-terrorism legislation and provide direction on CRA guidelines, Create template documents that may be used for international projects,

. Liaise with other legal counsel in other World Vision offices throughout the world,

. Instruct and manage outside counsel retained by WVC,

. Monitor legal information and developments which are or may be applicable to WVC and its international operations.

The firm has thirteen lawyers and twenty-seven supporting staff, and is looking for two (2) articling students for the Orangeville office for the 2012 – 2013 articling term, starting in late July 2012, or as soon thereafter as possible.

Our articling program involves work with most of the thirteen lawyers and in all areas of law. Duties would include: legal research, meeting with clients, appearing in court, handling small claims files, working on real estate transactions, legal drafting, some court filing and clerical work. Students will also be involved with preparing legal articles and papers, including research, writing and editing.

Students should have strong communication, research, writing and editing skills, as well as excellent time management, organizational and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of legal research programs such as New Quicklaw and LexisNexis is essential.
