ARTICLING STUDENT RECRUITMENT 2009-2010 Carters Professional Corporation in Orangeville, Ontario, is a full service law firm with a focus on charity and not-for-profit law and experience in civil litigation, personal injury, criminal, corporate/commercial, real estate, intellectual property, immigration, wills and estates, and family law. The firm has 14 lawyers and 32 supporting staff, and is looking for 2 articling students for the 2009-2010 articling term, starting in late July 2009, or as soon thereafter as possible. The articling students are required for our Orangeville office. There is also the possibility of an additional position at our Ottawa office. Our articling program involves work with most of the 14 lawyers and in all areas of law. Duties would include: legal research, meeting with clients, appearing in court, handling small claims files, working on real estate transactions, legal drafting, some court filing and clerical work. Students will also be involved with preparing legal articles and papers, including research, writing and editing. Students should have strong communication, research, writing and editing skills, as well as excellent time management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
