Rev. Reid Cooke
Reid joined CLF as chaplain in February, 2008, and is loving his new calling. After 35 years of pastoral ministry, Reid commenced his unique ministry with the Christian Legal Fellowship. Reid was born and raised in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, a member of a family with 6 siblings. God originally called him to the ministry when he was just 21 years old. He studied at Ontario Bible College (now Tyndale College, Toronto) graduating with his Bachelor in Theology. He completed a second degree through Mount Allison and Waterloo University. Reid and his wife, Esther pastored in New Brunswick for 19 years, moving to Redeemer Bible Church in Niagara Falls in 1991, where they enjoyed 16 years of ministry. He and Esther have 2 children. Joel lives and skis in Austria and is married to a beautiful Austrian girl, and Jodi is a journalist with CTV News, in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Reid’s wife, Esther, is a worship leader and keyboard musician. In his spare time, Reid loves to sail, and has owned over a dozen sailboats in his life.
Chaplain Reid Cooke's Vision:
My VISION as chaplain of Christian Legal Fellowship is based on Micah 6:8:
“O people, the LORD has already told you what is good, and this is what He requires of you: to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
My goal is to encourage our law students and legal practitioners to live their professional and private lives in community by these 3 admonitions:
- To do justice
- To love mercy
- To walk in humility with God
My calling as Chaplain to the constituents of Christian Legal Fellowship began with great joy in February of 2008. I am available to contact law students and lawyers by telephone, to encourage them personally with scripture and counsel, and to ask ‘how can I be praying for you today?’ I am also privileged (and available) as a devotional speaker at CLF chapter luncheons in Southern Ontario. I have traveled to Law Schools here in Ontario, and to eastern Canada, where I have participated in student conferences and retreats.
I will be speaking at the upcoming National Student Conference and the National General Conference and look forward to meeting you there! My long term plans include organizing a retreat for legal professionals and students in the Niagara Region which may be replicated across the country as the need arises.
My availability to act as confidential spiritual counsellor, devotional speaker, Bible teacher and prayer partner is truly my delight.
